Watch Cassadee Pope Perform 'Stand' and 'I'm With You' On The Voice!

It's a new week, and if you have been following my posts, then you know what that means....

My weekly update on former Hey Monday lead singer Cassadee Pope while she is competing and performing on NBC's The Voice!

For this weeks competition, the remaining top 6 not only performed the one song, but two. The contestants each chose their own song and their mentor chose the other. Cassadee performed both, "Stand," by Rascal Flatts and "I'm With You," by Avril Lavigne. Cassadee picked "I'm With You" and her mentor Blake Shelton picked "Stand". He chose "Stand" because when Cassadee performed Miranda Lambert's "Over You" two weeks ago, she nailed that country song and he wanted to see that from her again. Not only did she sound like a rockstar tonight, but she looked the part too! I cant write this post without mentioning her hair and clothing! Every week Cassadee has changed the color of her bleached streaks in her hair, and this week they were blue. I loved it! She wore silver metallic pants and a sequined shirt for the first performance. For her second performance she wore a beautiful copper dress.

As the second performer to kick off the show, Cassadee's first song she performed was her mentors pick. While they played her rehearsal videos, she spoke about being nervous with certain notes and the ability of her voice to ring. As always, she absolutely nailed the song. She was able to make it her own and put a pop punk twist on it. When she was done performing she received a standing ovation from all of the judges. Judge Christina Aguilera started off by saying, "you won me over Cassadee" to ending with "...I love what you represent. I love your story..." She also said, "you are the true star of the show." At this point in the competition, Cassadee has definitely won over all of the judges and I'm sure has become a favorite for all of them. Judge Adam Levine had the same reaction as Aguilera but added, "I want to see something more adventurous from you." The last judge to speak about Cassadee was her mentor Blake Shelton. He had nothing but praise and compliments for her. He commented saying, "I want to keep seeing you do what you do perfectly." He was also a fan of how she performed the song and said, "she made it her own and killed it."

Cassadee's second song of the night was her choice of song. It was a more emotional performance than the first. She performed one of Avril Lavigne's popular hits, "I'm With You." Before performing, she shared in her rehearsal video that this is her dream song to perform. To her, this song is about Blake being such a strong and supporting figure in her life right now as she progressed through this competition. As many of the judges said tonight, this was by far my favorite performance of hers. While she was singing, you could really feel her emotional attachment to the lyrics she was belting in a powerful way. The first judge to comment was Cee-lo Green. He said, "Cassadee, I love that you commit to something" and "You never cease to impress me." Just as always Adam Levine, was nothing but supportive to her. As he has said many times in previous episodes he is a big fan of hers and still wishes that she chose him as coach in the very beginning. He said, "that was my favorite performance of yours," and "I can genuinely love your choice, this was my favorite of the night." To wrap everything up, her mentor Blake added, "people are realizing you cant teach/coach someone to have a connection to lyrics." This performance made it obvious that Cassadee is one of those people that is just born with it. His closing statement on her performance was, "thank you for choosing me as your coach."

I am so happy for Cassadee for how far she has come in this competition. I have been a fan since her membership in Hey Monday, and my love for her just grows every week after her performances. She has absolutely nailed every single song on this show and has showed her emotional connection so well with all of them. I cannot wait to hear what songs she has in stock for the next couple of weeks.
